Posted February 05, 2019 07:59:06As the poker tables of Texas hold their final game on Wednesday, they’re making some fun of the people in the stands.
The Dallas area’s favorite poker players have begun a campaign to poke the bear.
They’re calling for a boycott of Texas Holdem poker machines, saying it’s “inappropriate to have a poker table in a public park,” The Dallas Morning News reported.
The players have been collecting signatures on petitions calling for the boycott, and some of them have even started making video game-inspired cards to sell at the tables.
“I love this country.
I want to live here, and I love the game,” said Michael Meeks, a player at Texas Holdes.”
We can’t play in the back of a car,” he said.”
It’s not appropriate.
We’re not allowed to,” said Patrick McManus, a Texas Holdeman.
“The bears are going to be out there, and they’re going to eat all our chips.”
Poked the Bear, an online poker site, launched on Monday and has already racked up more than 8,000 signatures.
The game has been played at over 10,000 tables worldwide, including Texas Holds.
The player petition has also attracted the attention of the Texas Rangers, who are hosting a fundraiser on Wednesday.
Rangers spokeswoman Susan McCall said the players are “very passionate about the game.”
“We appreciate the efforts of the players and want to thank them for their continued efforts to support the Rangers,” McCall wrote in an email.
