Pinnacle has entered into a partnership with the Canadian Poker Association to bring its online poker platform to the country.
Pinnacle Poker announced Wednesday it is bringing its PokerStars platform to Canada, which has had its own dedicated online poker site since the U.S. shut down.
The partnership with PokerStars will allow Canadian poker players to make in-person payments for online poker, making it a prime candidate for the next wave of Canadian gaming.
PokerStars has been operating a business in Canada since 2012.
It has grown steadily over the years and now boasts a presence in more than 70 cities.
It is part of a broader shift in the industry as companies such as Mastercard and Visa move to open up their services to Canadian gamblers, giving them access to the highest-rated players in the world.
“We are delighted to be partnering with the CPAA to help our players and communities become better players,” said PokerStars Chief Executive Officer James Dolan.
“The CPAAA has been working with us for years and has the expertise to help us scale to the next level.”
The partnership is the latest in a string of Canadian-based poker companies that have made deals with Pinnacle.
Earlier this year, the CPL announced a partnership that will see Pinnacle play a part in its expansion in Canada.
Pinnacle is also the first Canadian company to sign a deal with a major U.K. poker chain.
The PokerStars partnership will be a key driver for Pinnacle’s growth in Canada, as it will be one of the most popular and accessible poker platforms in the country, said Jeff Kornblum, president of PokerStars.
PokersEdge is another Canadian-focused company that is partnering with Pokerstars to provide online poker access to its players in Canada.
“PokerEdge has a large presence in the United States, with more than 1 million players online and over 20 million in-store cards,” he said.
“Pokerstars has more than 100,000 Canadian players and millions of Canadian fans.”
The two companies also plan to launch a new online poker service, PokerStars Plus, in Canada that will bring in new players to the industry and provide them with better service and greater flexibility.
Pulse is another new Canadian-owned company, founded in 2015, that is currently offering online poker to a wider audience.
It will also be a leader in offering in-game features such as high-stakes, cash bonuses, and more.
The two Canadian companies will work together on PokerStars to provide better and more streamlined in-house poker services, including the PokerStars PokerStarsPlus service, which will offer a dedicated Canadian poker app.
The poker world has been a little bit slow to get used to the possibility of the new technology in the hands of Canadians.
In 2015, for instance, PokerNews reported that the Canadian government was considering introducing a $20-million fund to help the country’s poker industry grow.
But with no such plan, it is unclear whether Canadians will ever see their games come to life.
“With Pinnacle joining the Poker Stars Partnership, we are providing an opportunity to give players the best possible access to Pinnacle in Canada,” said Paul Steeves, CEO of PokerNews.
“As part of this partnership, we have created a dedicated website where players can get in-depth information about Pinnacle and learn more about the Pokerstars platform.
The Pinnacle website is currently undergoing extensive upgrades and is ready to be fully operational.”
Pinnacle’s partnership with Canadian Poker is an example of the Canadian gaming industry being able to grow even more, said Mark Laidlaw, president and CEO of GlobalGaming Canada.
“The industry has not seen this type of growth in the U, UK, Australia and even Europe.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but we are confident this is an exciting time for Canadian gaming,” he added.
